This course applies to emergency response personnel required to detect and identify contaminants at hazardous materials incidents.
Delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909), the unit develops the skills and knowledge to use specialist equipment to detect, identify, and monitor airborne contaminants, liquids, and solids, including dangerous goods and hazardous chemicals. Participants will learn to assess associated risks, develop safe entry plans, and implement control measures to isolate and manage hazardous materials.
Training covers response scenarios across a range of environments, including confined spaces, storage facilities, transport incidents, post-fire scenes, hazardous waste sites, and unknown substance incidents where materials may pose risks to life, property, or the environment.

Delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909), the course combines theory with hands-on practical training. Participants will learn to assess incident scenes, select and test appropriate protective clothing including splash and gas-tight suits, establish hazard control and decontamination zones, contain and recover hazardous substances, and carry out rescue procedures in simulated HAZMAT scenarios. Training focuses on building the confidence and competence required to respond safely in high-risk environments.
