Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency where early intervention can significantly improve survival. This course teaches participants how to recognise and respond to a cardiac emergency, call for assistance, and perform effective CPR on an unconscious person who is not breathing normally.

 

Training is delivered in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and is conducted on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO 90909). The course includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), minimising interruptions to compressions, managing regurgitation or vomiting, and safely handing over to emergency services.

 

Participants will also learn how to review an incident and recognise potential psychological impacts following a response.

This first aid course provides practical training aligned with legal, workplace, and community requirements, as well as Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other national clinical bodies. The course covers casualty assessment, scene safety, accessing emergency services, and delivering first aid including CPR, use of a defibrillator, management of anaphylaxis, asthma, choking, bleeding, and shock, as well as immobilisation techniques for envenomation, fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains. Participants will also learn basic anatomy and physiology, the chain of survival, effective incident reporting, and how to review responses and recognise psychological impacts.

High-risk situations such as multiple casualty incidents, extrication, or life-threatening injuries require confident and well-practised responders. This course provides practical, scenario-based training to build the skills needed to manage and coordinate an advanced first aid response in real-world situations.

Participants will learn advanced first aid skills including CPR, management of hypothermia and hyperthermia, head, neck and spinal injuries, use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for severe bleeding, and care of casualties in shock. The course also covers incident documentation, debriefing, recognising psychological impacts, and seeking support when required.

This course has a prerequisite of HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid and is designed for those who may be required to provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy in community or workplace settings. Training is delivered in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and the First Aid Code of Practice.

Participants will learn advanced techniques such as airway adjunct insertion, safe oxygen administration, and the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding. The course also covers casualty documentation, incident handover, debriefing, and recognising psychological impacts.

This course applies to individuals involved in collecting specimens for drugs of abuse testing and provides the skills required to prepare clients and equipment, confirm collection requirements, and collect urine, oral, and breath specimens in line with legislative and industry requirements.
